You don’t have to be an eco warrior to appreciate Nature and our efforts to minimize the ecological impact of our lodge. We care about you, as we care about our environment. We do the work for you, simply share our goal and contribute.
So let’s start step by step.
ENERGY AND WATER
Our intention is to maintain a low energy consume. 80% of electricity from our local supplier are renewable energies. We use minimum consuming water heater and LED lamps only. Low pressure shower heads and tabs save water. No air condition is needed. Trees around spend shadow, the Ocean breeze cools down the house. At fresh days we warm up with the fireplace. Thanks to the sun, we don’t have to heat the pools.
WASHING AND CLEANING
We change bath towels and make up the rooms if you wish so and hang out the door sign. This safes tons of polluting cleaning products.
Free 100% biodegradable hand soap for everybody in refillable dispensers.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE
Free filtered drinking water from the tab to avoid buying plastic bottles. Refill your own bottle! Mainly national food for the breakfast buffet, 95% vegetarian assortment, which results in less CO2 production.
WASTE RECYCLING
Paper, plastic, glass, organic waste boxes inside and outside the lodge. We take care of the rest.
ADMINISTRATION
We regularly monitor our energy consume with the green key carbon calculator and avoid paper waste in the office. Reservations or invoices are sent by email.
INDOOR ENVIRONMENT
100% of the indoor furniture are made of raw or recycled wood, not treated with any chemicals for a pure and allergy-free atmosphere. We used what there already was.
GREEN AREAS
We strongly preserve our green garden with old trees and the piece of pine forest next to the lodge. We grow a lot of plants that produce oxygen.
GREEN ACTIVITIES
Use free bikes for an eco friendly transportation, get back in touch with nature through water activities or outdoor yoga.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We motivate staff and guests to contribute in ecological behavior and practice harmless tourism to our beloved region.

We don’t want to scare you, but would like to let you know.
Every year, the sea swallows 3 meters of our coast, proofed by the University of Aveiro. Until 2040, beaches between Cortegaça and Furadouro could disappear. Especially in Furadouro during winter storms, the Ocean knocks on the house doors in front of the coast. We can see the beach shrink.
Why are sea levels rising? Simply stated, the climate is warming due to massive global CO2 emissions. That causes sea level to rise by water expanding in a warming Ocean and melting land ice of the Poles, transferring masses of water to the Ocean. Surfers are going to be on the front line, changes in wave heights, periods and directions are already happening.
Perfect conditions will be less. Sea life is dying because of the Ocean water becoming more acidic. But not only are the Oceans affected. Global Warming on land threats every creature. We are facing the biggest species extinction since the dinosaurs. Yearly 58.000 species of animals die out.
Forever. Less drinking water will be available. Some lands will dry out, others will be flooded. Responsible are we. The human being and his lifestyle.
